Extractors
All our extractors have 1mm thick stainless steel walls, and are checked to make sure they are in good working order before they are sold. Our two-frame plastic extractors are food safe.
Extracting
When the time is right to extract the honey, there are a few ways you can do this. The most common way would be by using an extractor.
The first and main thing you must do is uncap all the cells so the honey can flow, then you can extract manually or with an extractor.
The next step is to filter your honey to get out any wax or other little things that might have fallen of the bees (e.g. legs, wings, pollen). The best way is to use a fine filter/strainer for this process.
Please remember when extracting to leave some honey for the bees: it is their food after all. (Remember, it is a good idea to leave a full super of honey for the winter season.)
Wax Press
Using a wax press helps squeeze out any honey that might be left in your wax so you can clean your wax for the next step of the process (e.g. making candles, wax wraps, etc.).
